Barangay Kaypian is a small rural barangay which was a sitio of Barangay Sto. Cristo before. When the different subdivisions in Francisco Homes were developed, the population increases. This drove the barangay officials to outline a resolution in the City Council to have it separated in 1958. The origin of its name is from the name of a girl who lived first in this place named “PIAN”. There were farmers from Sta. Maria who often went up to amountain where they met in the house of PIAN. They often said, Magkita-kita tayo kay Pian everytime they went to mountain. As time went by, they called it Kaypian.
Based on stories of some old folks of the barangay, Kaypian was from the word “Kay Api” because according to them it was being neglected everytime the feast was held and they felt that they were inaapi because all the blessings that was for them were given to Sto. Cristo, the center of the barangay before.
It was the time that Kaypian was separated to Sto. Cristo, with the help of councilors of that time Asuncion Diaz Abela, Monico Lorenzo and Imo Robes. It became barangay of the year 1958.
Most of the residents of Kaypian Proper are farmers with livestock business. But in the Subdivision portion, most residents are working in different establishments here and other nearby cities.
The old tenants are also known for their planting of variety of rice and vegetable and raising ducks, chicken and hogs in their backyards.
The barangay is headed by the energetic and supportive Barangay Captain Zosimo B. Lorenzo. The elective officials are serving the barangay 24 hours a day for the safety of their constituents.
